Welcome to Miallo State School
Welcome to Miallo State School.
Our school is located near the beautiful Whyanbeel Valley, on the land of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people in Far North Queensland. We are nestled between canefields and the rainforest-bordered Miallo Creek.
We a family-orientated school over 100 years old where traditions are valued, and innovation is embraced. We are very fortunate to have a strong family feel and supportive community: we value strong relationships and families have a strong presence in our school, through volunteering, attending events or the P&C Association.
Our staff are dedicated, caring, highly accomplished teachers, teacher aides and support staff. Teachers are constantly striving to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge, to deliver the most engaging, high quality and inclusive education program aligned to the Australian Curriculum.
Miallo State School is held in high regard in the community and we are very proud of the fine reputation of our students’ high academic, social, cultural and sporting outcomes. We are a school of choice for parents in the wider community and as such operate under an Enrolment Management Plan. Much of our success is attributable to our strong focus on learning, emphasis on traditional values [including respect, manners, honesty and friendship], and high expectations in everything that we do, from student behaviour to bookwork.
Our school is considered leaders in the field of explicit teaching pedagogy, and winning the ‘Network Ten Excellence in the Early Phase of Learning Showcase Award’ for the FNQ Region twice is a testament to our outstanding work in this field. Our school has presented at conferences in our Region, Central Queensland and the State for our work around school improvement.
I feel privileged to be working in such a positive, quality learning environment. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our wonderful school.
Warm regards
Dr Anet Kyiah Ridley
