Miallo State School provides quality education for students from Prep to Year 6.
We are a high-performing school that is very proud of our long-term academic results.  Our school culture is one of learning and high expectations in all that we do.  We also focus on the socio-emotional learning of our students through the teaching of neuroscience and mindfulness, to promote a positive attitude to school life, friendship and resiliency skills, and good behaviour.

At Miallo staff believe that:
  • Every child matters every day.
  • Every child can achieve.
  • Effective curriculum delivery is underpinned by explicit instruction, and complemented by other Age-Appropriate Pedagogies.
We plan for and implement a challenging and engaging curriculum aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Our foundational programs, curriculum extension and student support all work together to support our students to reach the highest standards of academic success and personal achievement.

Miallo believes that literacy and numeracy is crucial for our students, not only in meeting the Achievement Standards of the Australian Curriculum, but in navigating everyday life. Our foundational programs and Intervention Support Team assist our students gain the skills needed to become proficient, confident lifelong learners.  We also employ daily Warm Ups, to consolidate knowledge and skills so that this learning is moved to a student’s long-term memory.  This reduces a student’s cognitive load when undertaking challenging work such as solving complex equations or writing a creative story, as basic literacy and numeracy skills have been taught to automaticity for quick recall.

English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, The Arts and Social Sciences and Technology subjects follow the Australian National Curriculum. Specialist teachers deliver programs weekly in Health and Physical Education, Music and Languages [Japanese] for all students across Prep - Year 6.
